If you are landing in our website, as a previous guest in any of our apartments, but particularly The Decca, then this is especially for you. The Decca has now been sold (not as short term holiday let) – However!
CORBIE is still with us! Check availability
We bought The Decca in 2003, (two years after we became self catering hosts, in Corbie), and embarked on a wonderful journey of hosting many, many, many... wonderful guests, from all across the world. Now in 2023 the time has come, to be the travellers – both within our beautiful islands, and into the way beyond. To this end we have now sold The Decca, and it is no longer available for short term let, in its new incarnation.
We do still have our Mother-Apartment – Corbie.
Corbie has just undergone a redecoration in readiness to be our stand alone apartment for short term let.
Nothing has changed with regard to our dedication to offering excellent customer care, attention, and facilities for you our guests. Indeed as we have made this major gear shift, we maintained 9.5 level ratings in Booking.com and have been awarded Superhost in Airbnb many times, including 3 times this year. Comments consistently stating how clean our apartments are and how well equipped they were. Corbie still maintains this standard and shall continue to do so.
As we have made this decision, we have also opted to offer Direct Bookings only. You will see many accommodation providers state that direct rates are best - this is true. The other thing that is so much better is direct communication and accurate information between you the guest, and us the host. So please check out the information about Corbie within this site - if you are a regular traveller - then please do save us in your favourites. Our 10% Loyalty Discount for returning guests within 3 years still applies.
We hope to see you soon,
Steve, Gillian & Lauren
Corbie, our self-catering apartment is located in Lerwick, Shetland's small and busy town. Ideal for the holiday maker or business traveller away from home and looking for something more personal than a hotel room, a 'hame fae hame' that offers a blend of comfort and luxury.
Giving you, our guest, the flexibility and choice to arrive and depart on any day. No Saturday to Saturday restrictions. Minimum stay 4 nights, with the possibility of 1, 2 or 3 nights if filling a gap between bookings.
The least we can do for you, when you have chosen to travel to the farthest reaches of Great Britain, to Shetland, our beautiful and enchanting wind swept islands, is to offer you a comfortable homely stay.
Shetland where daylight lingers for up to 24 hours in the heart of the summer, and darkness lifts for around 6-7 hours in the heart of winter.
Shetland, where our summers offer long hours of amazing light and reflection across the vast empty skylines and horizons. Or visit us in the winter to experience the most amazingly wild gales, when nature honours us with a display of her sheer raw power, and if you're lucky her spectacular displays of the 'Aurora Borealis'.
Shetland provides a unique and diverse opportunity for naturalists and wildlife enthusiasts to watch and observe the bird life, otters and the odd pod of whales passing by! Our World Geo-Park status proves the diversity of geology and 'geological history'.
In Shetland, we have fantastic roads and public transport service, as well as brilliant facilities such as leisure centres, swimming pools, and playing parks for children scattered all over the island! World class swaiths of sand and sea, cliffs and shores. There are boat trips to take you out to the isles and out of reach beauty spots, giving you the opportunity to see our islands from a sea viewpoint.
We’re proud of Shetland and what it has to offer and we hope that you will choose to stay with us at Self Catering Shetland where a warm and friendly welcome will provide a “Hame fae Hame”. Should our web site not provide the answers to any queries you may have, then please do not hesitate to contact our wonderful property manager, Lauren, and she will be delighted to help in any way she can.
